Fertilizing your Tree
Bonsai maintenance is the key to keeping your tree healthy can be an easy task as long as you stay on top of watering, re-potting, and fertilizing. If you plan on re-potting your tree in the next few months, now is a great time to ensure proper fertilizing for your bonsai tree. We recommend using a slow release fertilizer that breaks down over time. If you don’t have some on hand, Gro-Power planting tablets are great for this.
Simply place the recommended amount directly on your bonsai soil. Depending on the size of your bonsai tree, you may need to use more than one. As you water your tree, the fertilizer will break down into the roots.
For extra protection from birds or animals, cover the cakes with a fertilizer basket to keep them away. The baskets also help control the rate at which the fertilizer tablets break down.
